Christian Plattner has been leading a ‘triple life’ – with parallel careers in Music, Mathematics and Management – since his teenage years.

Growing up listening to his father Helmut Plattner playing trumpet in traditional jazz and swing bands he soon took up the clarinet and the alto saxophone. In 1979, his father founded the family band Plattner & Plattners Jazz Corporation, which during the years also would include the younger brother Bernhard Plattner on trombone, and their sister, Susanne Plattner, as vocalist and guitar player. Since 1988, ensembles of varying size called Christian Plattner Jazz Party have appeared on stage and records.

When in Austria, it’s very likely you will see Christian Plattner performing at Europe’s oldest Jazz Club Jazzland, located in Vienna’s historical city centre, or at one of his concerts as a regular with a Viennese Traditional Jazz Band, the Hot Jazz Ambassadors.
